Dakota Wizards News Release

Bismarck, ND (November 4, 2005) - The Dakota Wizards signed Billy Thomas today, pending league approval. Per club policy, terms of the contract were not released.

The sharp-shooting guard out of Kansas University played in 24 games for the Dakota Wizards last season before receiving an NBA call-up to the New Jersey Nets. Thomas was named to the All-CBA 1st Team and was the 2005 CBA Newcomer of the Year. He averaged 20.8 ppg, 4.2rpg, 4.5apg and 2.0spg for the Wizards last season.

" Billy is an excellent addition to our team's chemistry. He's a great shooter with tremendous ability to change the outcome of the game with his three point shooting skills," said Assistant Coach, Bryant Notree. " Whenever Billy is on the floor the opposition has to respect him beyond the three-point arc, which makes it easy for our athletes to drive into the lane. I'm very excited about Billy joining us because he's a hard player to find. We, as an organization feel privileged to have a player with this much NBA potential."

Familiar to the NBA, Thomas has spent the last two summers in the Washington Wizards veteran's camp and toward the end of last season, Billy signed two consecutive 10-day contracts with the New Jersey Nets. Impressed with Billy's play, the Nets followed up with a contract for the rest of the regular season and play-offs. Thomas averaged 3.7ppg and 1.4rpg in 25 regular season games with the Nets.

As a graduate from Kansas University, Billy finished his career at Kansas as the school's all-time leader in 3-pointers with 269, a mark that was later surpassed by Valley City's Jeff Boschee. Thomas earned a spot on the All-Big 12 Honorable Mention team during his senior season (1997-1998) when he averaged 13.6 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 2.8 assists.

The Dakota Wizards are also happy to announce players: Chris Alexander (7'0", C), Damond Williams (6'6", G), James Maye (6'7", Wing), Anthony Jackson (6'8" Power Forward), Matt Vaughn (6'1", PG), and Dexter Young (6'2", PG) have signed contracts with the Dakota Wizards this season.

Dakota Wizards season tickets and mini-plans are currently on sale. Please contact the Wizards office at (701) 258-2255 or visit their website at www.dakotawizards.com for more details. The regular season gets underway with a game November 19th at Sioux Falls. Their home opener is Friday, November 25th against the Idaho Stampede.
