
Bighorns Ring in New Year with Win over Austin

AUSTIN, TX - The Reno Bighorns improved their record to 10-7 after defeating the Austin Spurs 108-89 Saturday Night at the Cedar Park Arena in Austin, Texas.
Vince Hunter paced the Bighorns with 29 points and 14 rebounds. The Saturday night contest marks the 13 double-double Hunter has logged in 17 contests. Erick Green netted 26 points, grabbed four rebounds and added six assists for the Bighorns. David Stockton totaled 14 points, three rebounds and eight assists during the contest.
Green led the Bighorn in the first quarter with eight points and three steals. Chad Topper and Hunter tallied six points and two rebounds each during the first quarter as Stockton scored five points and added two rebounds for the Bighorns.
During the second quarter, Hunter notched seven points and seven rebounds while Green totaled five points. Reggie Hearn had four points and three rebounds in the second quarter. The Bighorns led by 16 points midway through the quarter.
The Bighorns went into the locker room at the half leading the Spurs 54-46.
Coming out of the locker room for the second half, the Bighorns outscored the Spurs 31-21 in the third quarter. During the quarter, Hunter netted eight points as Green totaled seven points, two rebounds and three assists. Hearn notched six points and three rebounds in the quarter.
Hunter led the Bighorns in the final quarter with eight points and four rebounds. Green tallied six points and two assists in the quarter as Stockton had seven points. The Bighorns shot 52.6 percent from the field compared to the Spurs shooting 38.1 percent from the field. The Bighorns led the Spurs by 24 points during the final quarter.
The Bighorns outscored the Spurs 56-43 during the second half.
With a 10-7 record, the Bighorns are currently leading the Pacific Division.
The Bighorns return to the Reno Events Center Monday, Jan. 4 at 7 p.m. to host the Rio Grande Valley Vipers. All Fans 12 and under wearing any sports jersey will receive free admission in honor of Youth Sports Jersey Night.
