
Bighorns Pick-Up First Victory, 101-79, Over D-Fenders

LOS ANGELES- A quick start and a dominant second-half effort lifted the Reno Bighorns to their first victory of the young season Friday night, a 101-79 defeat of the Los Angeles D-Fenders in the Staples Center.
The Bighorns (1-2) hopped out to a 10-0 lead in the game's first two minutes, and though Reno would eventually relinquish the advantage, the Bighorns outscored Los Angeles 54-34 in the second half to roll to their first win.
Desmon Farmer led six Bighorns in double-figures with 18 points and nine assists. Farmer finished 5-for-11 from beyond the arc, and Reno as a team connected on 10 three-point field goals.
Rod Benson recorded his second-straight double with 17 points and 10 boards, while Russell Robinson dished out 10 assists. Cezary Trybanski came off the bench to score 10 points and block nine shots.
Diamon Simpson led the D-Fenders (2-2) with 24 points and 13 rebounds. James Jackson scored 22 off the bench for Los Angeles.
Next up for Reno is Saturday night's home opener, when the Bighorns once again take on the Los Angeles D-Fenders in the Reno Events Center. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m., with a magnet schedule giveaway among the highlights of the evening.
