EL SEGUNDO, CALIF.-The Reno Bighorns lost a tight game to the Los Angeles D-Fenders Friday night, being outscored 12-5 in the game's final three minutes and losing 101-102. The Bighorn's Andre Emmett had 22 points, seven rebounds and six assists in the loss, complemented by Blake Ahearn's 21 points and Mo Charlo's eight points and game-high 16 rebounds. Elijah Millsap had 24 points for the D-Fenders.
The two teams battled closely throughout, with the Bighorns taking 96-90 advantage with three minutes left in the game. The D-Fenders made a run and eventually took a three point lead on an Orien Greene three point play. Terrance Thomas then hit a three-pointer with 15 seconds remaining to tie the game at 101. With five seconds left, D-Fender's Courtney Fortson was fouled and would make 1-of-2 free throws to win the game.
The Bighorn's record now stands at 8-9 going into the NBA D-League Showcase. The D-Fenders improved to 3-1 against the Bighorns on the season.
The Bighorns will return to Reno for their D-League Showcase game against the Rio Grande Valley Vipers on Monday Night at the Reno Events Center. The game marks a rematch between last season's playoff semifinals where the Vipers eliminated the Bighorns in two games. Now Bighorns head coach was an assistant coach on that Vipers team.
