Bighorns' Landry and Tucker to Compete in 3-Point, Slam Dunk Contests

RENO, NEV, Jan. 8, 2012 - Reno Bighorns forward Marcus Landry will participate in the 3-Point Shootout and guard Dar Tucker will compete in the Slam Dunk Competition as part of the NBA D-League Showcase, it was announced yesterday by the NBA Development League.

Landry enters the 3-Point Shootout with 52 made 3-point field goals, the most in the D-League. He is also second in the league in 3-point shooting percentage, hitting 47.7% of his shots from beyond the arc. Also competing are in the 3-Point Shootout are Nick Covington (Erie Bayhawks), Justin Dentmon (Austin Toros) and Andy Rautins (Tulsa 66ers).

Tucker, who won the D-League Slam Dunk contest in 2010 and 2011, has been averaging 10.1 points and 3.9 rebounds per game for the Bighorns. He will be competing against Travie Leslie (Santa Cruz Warriors), Tony Mitchell (Fort Wayne Mad Ants), and Dominique Sutton (Tulsa 66ers).

The two contests will be held Wednesday night at the Reno Events Center in Reno, Nev. The competitions will be aired nationally on CBS Sports Network on tape delay.

Sutton, who averages 11.9 points and 5.9 rebounds per game this season, will go up against Travis Leslie (Santa Cruz Warriors), Dar Tucker (Reno Bighorns) and Tony Mitchell (Fort Wayne Mad Ants) in the Slam Dunk Competition.

The four-day, 16-game NBA Development League Showcase, which features all 16 NBA D-League teams, tipped off today at the Reno Events Center in Reno, Nev., home of the NBA D-League's Reno Bighorns. This season's event will also include a three-point shooting competition and a slam dunk contest and, for the first time, all 16 games, as well as the skills competitions will be televised nationally, with two games airing on CBS Sports Network and the remaining 14 being broadcast by NBA TV and on the NBA D-League's YouTube channel.
