Bighorns Fall to Santa Cruz

Santa Cruz, Calif. Jan. 23, 2015- The Reno Bighorns fell 111-127 to the Santa Cruz Warriors tonight at the Kaiser Permanente Area in Santa Cruz, CA.

The Bighorns were paced by forward Ra'Shad James with 18 points and nine rebounds. Durrell Summers added 16 points and six rebounds. David Wear, Tajuan Porter, and Bighorns newly acquired guard, Melvin Johnson, both totaled 15 points each. David Stockton finished the game with a phenomenal 11 rebounds.

Ronald Roberts led the Warriors with 39 points and 19 rebounds. Warriors Guard Klwl Gardner totaled 21 points and 10 rebounds for the team while Maurice Baker and Mychel Thompson netted 18 points each.

The Bighorns were led by Porter in the first quarter, who totaled nine points while Summers finished the quarter with seven points and two rebounds. David Stockton notched five assists in the first quarter of play.

During the second quarter, Jordan Hamilton and Wear paced the Bighorns with six points each. James finished the second with five points and two rebounds. Stockton added two assists in the quarter, finishing the first half of play with seven assists.

In the third, James led the Bighorns with seven points and two rebounds while Hamilton and Porter tallied three points each. Sim Bhullar totaled two blocked shots in the quarter.

The Bighorns outshot the Warriors in the final quarter of play, netting 25 points compared to the Warriors 22 points. Wear and Summers notched six points each for the Bighorns while Stockton added five points, two rebounds, and two assists.

The Bighorns return home tomorrow night (Jan.24) at 7 p.m. at the Reno Events Center taking on the Los Angeles D-Fenders.
