Helena Bighorns News Release

The Helena Bighorns made a big trade this morning in acquiring goaltender Matt Cleveland from the North Iowa Outlaws.

Cleveland, 19, spent the entire season last year with the Bozeman Ice Dogs before joining the Outlaws this season. In 25 games last season, Cleveland posted a 6-13 record to go along with a 3.15 GAA. His .923 save percentage was 2nd in the NAHL last season. The trade sends Bighorn veteran Eric Curtis to North Iowa.

Bighorn President, Mike Butters, feels the move will help both clubs. "In Curtis, the Outlaws are getting a good face-off centerman who plays with a lot of character and desire. Cleveland was a guy we were trying to acquire all summer. When Bozeman sent him to North Iowa, I immediately called Dave Boitz about him. When the Outlaws got off a slow start, the deal became more realistic."

Cleveland is expected to join the Bighorns tomorrow as they embark on their longest road trip of the season. The Big Blue travel to Winnipeg for the MJHL showcase and continue on to stops in Fargo, Alexandria and Owatanna. Their 20 day road swing ends in Minneapolis for the NAHL Showcase which concludes on Oct. 22nd.

All Bighorn league games and Showcase games will be broadcast on 1340 KCAP and on sportjuice.com.
