Big three return to Twins lineup

Winston-Salem Polar Twins News Release

[WINSTON-SALEM, N.C.] - The Winston-Salem Polar Twins have faced a lot of adversity this season. Since the beginning, the team has been plagued with injuries. Then came a point when everyone was healthy, the team looked strong, and even produced an SPHL-Sherwood Player of the Week in Justin Kot. A few days later, everything had changed.

Kot, along with starting goaltender Jomar Cruz, forward Geoff Rollins, and defenseman Shaun Peet were told they were unable to play because of a government shortage on H2-B visas. Peet returned to the Polar Twins lineup last Friday but the other players have missed five games each because of the situation.

That is all in the past now, as Kot, Cruz, and Rollins will return to the Winston-Salem lineup Friday night when the Polar Twins travel to Columbus to finish their season series with the Cottonmouths.

Kot, who has played in nine games for the Twins this season since signing on January 8, has tallied 11 points (8 goals, 3 assists) including the first ever Polar Twins hat trick. The Weyburn, Saskatchewan native spent the last two seasons with the Oklahoma City Blazers of the Central Hockey League, playing in 39 games and contributing four goals and seven assists in that span.

Goaltender Cruz has been Coach Bryan Wells' go-to guy since Nathan Grobins was recalled to Richmond of the United Hockey League. The Manitoba-born Cruz has played in 23 games this season for the Twins with a 7-12 record and a .890 save percentage.

Forward Rollins, who has been injured since January 22, will also return to play this weekend. Hailing from Okotoks, Alberta, Rollins has played in 19 games this season for the Polar Twins, scoring seven goals and adding 13 assists.

The Polar Twins will be on the road this weekend with stops in Columbus and Jacksonville before returning home next weekend for two. February 18 the Twins will once again take on Jacksonville in the second half of the home-and-home series. It will also be Country Music Night with special giveaways by WFMX 105.7. February 19 Winston-Salem will face off against Asheville while wearing special throwback jerseys that will be sold at a live auction immediately following the game. Both games begin at 7:30 p.m.
