WEST VALLEY CITY, UTAH - The Utah Grizzlies scored three-third period goals to back Ryan Faragher's goaltending to down the Alaska Aces 6-3 Saturday at the Maverik Center.

The win gives Utah a split of the two-game series. Alaska won Friday's contest 3-1.

The Grizzlies jumped out to a 1-0 lead on a goal by Michael Pelech at 6:04, but that goal was answered by the Aces in a most unusual way.

With Alaska's Garet Hunt in the penalty box, the Aces scored not one, but two shorthanded goals.

At 11:39, Dax Lauwers helped pry a puck loose in the neutral zone. Peter Sivak jumped on it and triggered a two-on-one rush with Perfetto. When in the lower left circle, Sivak faked the shot to freeze Grizzlies goaltender Ryan Faragher, and deftly swept the puck to Perfetto who buried a one-timer for his 22nd goal of the season.

31 seconds later it was Danny Moynihan stuffing in a close range shot off an assist from Mitch Jones, and it was 2-1 Aces. The goal was Moynihan's 11th of the season.

Utah would tie the score at 17:23 of the first on the power play. Ralph Cuddemi cashed in from Tim Daly and Cam Reid.

Utah outshot Alaska 14-5 for the period.

Just one goal in the second period. Utah's Colin Martin scored at 18:01 to put the Grizzlies up 3-2 at the end of two periods.

Shots were 28-13 Utah.

The Grizzlies put the game away in the third period on goals by C.J. Eick, Phil Pietroniro (PP) and Reid (PP).

The Aces got one more before the final buzzer. Tim Coffman scored an unassisted goal at 18:49.

The Aces return home to face the Idaho Steelheads Wednesday, January 25, Friday, January 27 and Saturday, January 28 at the Sullivan Arena in Anchorage.
