Somerset Patriots News Release
Sugar Land, Texas - The Somerset Patriots (20-15, 55-43) fell to the Sugar Land Skeeters (24-10, 65-32) 6-4 Tuesday night at Constellation Field.
The Skeeters took the lead early with a four-run bottom of the third inning. Barrett Barnes opened the scoring on an RBI single. Two-out RBI singles from Juan Silverio and Matt Chavez - along with a run-scoring wild pitch - later in the inning increased the lead to 4-0.
Somerset got on the board in the top of the sixth inning. A bases-loaded walk to Mike Fransoso and a run-scoring wild pitch brought the Patriots within a pair of runs. Somerset got a run closer in the top of the eighth on a Jayce Boyd RBI groundout to make it a one-run game.
Sugar Land answered the next half inning to put the game out of reach. RBI singles from Albert Cordero and Luke Dyskstra put the Skeeters in front 6-4. The Patriots got a run back in the top of the ninth on a Justin Pacchioli stolen base paired with a two-base throwing error, but that topped off the scoring.
The Patriots' bullpen allowed just two runs over five and a third innings Tuesday night, including scoreless performances from Mike Antonini, Zech Zinicola, Chase Huchingson and Dustin Antolin.
Dallas Beeler (7-1) earned the win after he allowed two runs on seven hits over six innings. Nate Roe (4-2) yielded four runs over 2.2 innings to take the loss. Felipe Paulino (25) allowed an unearned run in the ninth to lock down the save.
The Patriots and Skeeters continue their seven-game series Wednesday night. First pitch at Constellation Field is set for 7:05 p.m. CST (8:05 p.m. EST).
The 2018 Somerset Patriots Season presented by Ford continues on the road until Friday, August 17th when the Patriots return to TD Bank Ballpark for an 7:05 p.m. game against the York Revolution.
