The AppleSox got on the board first in the top of the second when Ryan Barnes hit a single and came around on an RBI double from Eric Filia-Snyder to make the score 1-0. The Elks tied the game up in the bottom of the third as Kyle Buchanan reached on a one out single, and another single put a runner on first and second with one out. Justin Maffei hit into a fielder's choice that would have been a double play if not for an errant throw kept the inning alive when Michael Benjamin hit a hard ground ball down the third base line that Wenatchee third baseman Adam Nelubowich made a play on and made the throw across the diamond that AppleSox first baseman Brock Gates couldn't handle, allowing Buchanan to come around and score.

That would be all of the scoring until the eighth inning, when the Elks would get a leadoff single from Derek Blankenship, a sacrifice got him over to second, setting the table for Michael Benjamin, who delivered a critical RBI single to break the 1-1 tie. Then Bo Walter would follow that up with an RBI single of his own to score Benjamin, and give the Elks a 3-1 lead, a run that would prove to be critical.

In the top of the ninth, Joey McClung came on to relieve Daniel Chavez, who threw 8 quality innings in getting the win, and ran into some trouble. Payden Cawley Lamb got a leadoff walk, Erik Munzer followed him with a single to get Cawley Lamb to third with nobody out. McClung then got Nelubowich to strike out for one out in the inning. Brock Gates followed with an RBI single to cut the lead to 2-1 with runners on first and third with one out, but Pat Valaika grounded into a double play to end the threat and the game, giving the AppleSox their first back to back losses and first series loss of the 2011 season.

The Elks and AppleSox will play game 3 of the series tomorrow at 5:05, different then the printed 6:35 game time, as they go for the sweep on Eberhard's Dairy Free Ice Cream Day.
