Colorado Mammoth News Release

DENVER - The National Lacrosse League announced today that Mammoth goaltender Tye Belanger has been named the league's Defensive Player of the Week. Belanger led Colorado to a 9-7 win in Edmonton on Saturday, stopping 48 of the 55 shots he faced.

"Congrats to Tye," said Mammoth head coach Bob Hamley. "He's come in and settled us down. His play and his calm demeanor have given everybody a lot of confidence."

The 22-year-old assumed the starting role between the pipes a month ago. With Belanger in net, Colorado is the league's hottest team, having won four of its last five. He's held opponents to less than 10 goals three times during the streak.

In Saturday's game, the Rush scored just three even-strength goals against Belanger and the Mammoth defense.

A second-round selection in the 2011 NLL Entry Draft, Belanger boasts a 9.48 goals-against-average. The mark would be tops in the league if he had logged enough minutes.

Belanger and the Mammoth host the Minnesota Swarm on HealthONE Field at Pepsi Center this Saturday, April 13 at 7pm MT on HealthONE Field at Pepsi Center on Fan Appreciation Night. A postgame concert featuring The Epilogues and My Body Sings Electric will be held on the field after the game. Tickets are on sale now at the Pepsi Center Box Office, all Colorado Dick's Sporting Goods retail Kiosks, online at TicketHorse.com or by calling 303.53.HORSE.
