Salt Lake Bees News Release
The Salt Lake Bees completed a three game series sweep in Albuquerque with a 10-4 win over the Isotopes on Sunday night. The Bees led 3-0 when Albuquerque tied the game with three runs in the bottom of the seventh, two of the runs were unearned.
In the top of the eighth, three walks loaded the bases for Salt Lake before Wilfredo Tovar drilled a two out, two run single to right to make it a 5-3 game. Nick Franklin followed with a three run homer into the left field bullpen to cap off the five run inning. After the Isotopes scored one run in the bottom of the eighth, the Bees added two runs in the ninth on a fielder's choice and an RBI double by Franklin.
Zac Ryan (2-1) picked up the win in relief, but starter Patrick Sandoval was the ace of the game, as he went five and two-third scoreless innings and allowed just three hits with six strikeouts and four walks. Franklin led the Bees with two hits and four runs batted, while Tovar added one hit and three RBI. Jose Rojas added two hits, including an RBI double, to extend his hitting streak to fifteen games, the longest for a Salt Lake batter this season. Justin Bour drew three walks and belted a two run homer, his fifth in six games since returning from the Angels.
