Battle Creek, MI - The League-leading Carolina Thunderbirds struck with two first period goals 1:45 apart before exploding with four more strikes in the second stanza to defeat the Rumble Bees Friday night at The Rink Battle Creek, 7-0.
Jiri Pargoc and Petr Panacek each fired a pair of goals for the victors who claimed their 9th consecutive victory, the longest win streak in the FPHL thus far this season. In the process the defending League Champions raised their overall record to a gaudy 14(13-1-0) totaling 39-points.
Carolina outshot Battle Creek, 59-18 in posting a fourth straight triumph through the first four games of this five games' series between the two Western Division foes.
It marked the third time this season which the Rumble Bees have been shutout.
The same two teams will wrap-up the series Saturday night at 7:35 pm at The Rink Battle Creek. Saturday night will be the Christmas Teddy Bear Toss Night. Fans are urged to bring a new stuffed animal to the game and toss it on the ice when the Rumble Bees scored their first goal of the game. Those stuffed animals will be collected and donated to the needy children in our area.
