New Britain Bees News Release
In a pitchers' duel at New Britain Stadium, Nick Greenwood and the New Britain Bees edged out the Sugar Land Skeeters 2-1 to even up the four game set.
The left-handed Greenwood was superb in his third start of the season, shutting out the Skeeters for seven innings before giving way to the bullpen. The native of Southington, Greenwood, who has yet to allow a run this season in 19 innings, allowed just four hits and walked one while striking out five. Right-handers Shawn Haviland and Craig Stem finished out Greenwood's third win of the year.
The Skeeters also received a great start from right-hander Barret Loux, who struck out 11 Bees in five innings of work. Loux's 11 punch-outs tied a Skeeters single-game record. The Bees were able to get to Loux in his final inning of the night, scoring twice in the fifth on a RBI double from Greg Golson and a RBI single off the bat of Jovan Rosa.
