York Revolution News Release

(York, Pa.) - Telvin Nash walked it off with a solo home run in the 11th inning as the York Revolution overpowered the Bridgeport Bluefish 6-5 on Tuesday night at PeoplesBank Park. The Revs now take the momentum into a day-night doubleheader with the Bluefish on Wednesday.

With one out in the bottom of the 11th, Nash connected with an 0-1 Scott Shuman slider and sent it soaring over the Arch Nemesis and into the Central PA night. Rain began to fall as Nash rounded the bases with his second home run of the night and fifth of the season, making for a dramatic scene with the ground crew unrolling the tarp as Nash's teammates mobbed him at the plate.

Michael Click (1-1) bounced back from a rough Sunday outing with two perfect innings in the 10th and 11th to take the win. Shuman (1-1) took the loss after the walk-off.

The Bluefish put the first four runs on the scoreboard over the first three innings. Ruben Sosa, Jr. led off the game with a single and steal of second, scoring on a Luis Nunez base hit. Sosa again played a role in a run, driving in Rossmel Perez with a single in the second.

Jose Cuevas launched a two-run homer over the Arch Nemesis in the third to make it 4-0 for the road side.

It was then that the Revs brought out the big guns. After Jason Repko took a pitch off the shoulder to lead off the third, Michael Rockett shot a line drive into the right corner for a run-scoring triple. Needing only a fly ball to get him home, Andres Perez got all that and more, cracking a towering home run over the Nemesis to make it 4-3.

Telvin Nash followed with a blast of his own, taking R.J. Hively deep to left center to deadlock the game at 4-4.

On the first pitch of the fifth inning, Andres Perez again challenged the wall and won. His second home run of the game gave York its first lead at 5-4.

York held the lead until the top of the eighth inning. Wilkin Ramirez laced a one out single, stole second, and went to third on a throwing error by the catcher. Rossmel Perez then lifted a fly ball deep to the right field corner for a game-tying sac fly.

The Bluefish got the go-ahead run aboard in the top of the ninth as the speedy Sosa drew a leadoff walk. Mike DeMark atoned for the free pass, however, picking Sosa off first base moments later. DeMark easily retired the next two to send it to extras.

Notes: This was the second extra-inning game for the Revs this season and their first at PeoplesBank Park. The Revs hit back-to-back home runs for the first time this season. Andres Perez became the first Rev to hit two home runs in a game in 2016, while Telvin Nash became the second. Perez now has 54 home runs in his Revolution career, just five back of the club record set by Chris Nowak. Perez also now has 86 home runs in his Atlantic League career. It marked just his second career multi-homer game with York for Perez and first since September 2, 2012 vs. Long Island. Nash has now hit 11 home runs in his last 17 home games. He now has 18 home runs in his Revolution career, while connecting on his first walk-off shot (second career walk-off hit with York). Perez and Nash team up to become the fifth duo in Revs history to slug two homers in the same game and the first since Mark Teahen and Andy Marte did it on July 14, 2013 vs. Southern Maryland, the only other time that also featured a walk-off (Marte). Nash also becomes the fourth individual batter in Revs history and first since Marte to go deep twice in a game including a walk-off. York won despite striking out 17 times in the game, the most in franchise history. The Revs will now prepare for a day-night doubleheader against the Bluefish with Jorge Martinez taking the hill in the morning and a starter to be determined going in the nightcap. Revs fans can catch the action live on SportsRadio 1350, woyk1350.com, and on the WOYK mobile app beginning at 10:55 a.m. and 6:10 p.m. with Darrell Henry and Will DeBoer on the call. Game 1 welcomes students from around York County for Baseball in Education Day. Game 2 is PeoplesBank Client Appreciation Night and Kids Eat Free presented by PeoplesBank. Tickets are available at YorkRevolution.com, (717) 801-HITS, and in person at the Apple Chevrolet Ticket Office.
