Bees Drop Finale, Take Series in Vegas
July 18, 2022 - Pacific Coast League (PCL)
Salt Lake Bees News Release
The Las Vegas Aviators used a pair of late three run homers to beat Salt Lake 6-1 on Sunday night to snap the Bees' four game winning streak. Matt Thaiss led off the second inning with his eighth home run of the season to give Salt Lake a 1-0 lead, but baserunning mistakes in the fourth and fifth innings prevented the Bees from adding to the lead. Las Vegas would take the lead in the seventh, as they scored three runs after there were two outs and no one on base on a walk, an infield hit and a three run homer by Jonah Bride off of Kyle Barraclogh (2-3). The Aviators would get a second three run blast in the eighth to put the game away.
Salt Lake starter Touki Toussaint pitched two and two-third scoreless innings and Ryan Smith followed with three and one-third shutout frames. Thaiss led the Bees with two hits and one run batted in, while David Fletcher went 2 for 4 in the continuation of his major league injury rehab assignment from the Angels. The Bees will enter the break in third place seven and one-half games behind first place Las Vegas.
