Bees Add Former Big League Infielder

(New Britain, Conn.) - The New Britain Bees today announced the signing of infielder Ryan Jackson.

"Ryan has had success in this league and will bring Major League experience to our clubhouse," says Bees General Manager Brad Smith. "He has the ability to play all over the diamond, and we look forward to his contributions to our club."

Ryan Jackson joins the Bees for during third season in the Atlantic League and 11th of professional baseball. Prior to coming to New Britain, the former big leaguer began the 2019 campaign with the Sugar Land Skeeters, appearing in 53 games and posting a .251 batting average.

The 31-year-old began his professional career with the St. Louis Cardinals after being selected in the fifth round of the 2009 amateur draft. He spent four seasons with the Cardinals organization before making his Major League debut in 2012 at the age of 24. The Florida-native would again reach the big leagues with St. Louis the following season, and make his final trip the The Show with the Los Angeles Angels in 2015. He appeared in a total of 42 Major League games during his career. Prior to making his Atlantic League debut with the Skeeters in 2017, Jackson would also spend time with Philadelphia Phillies and Miami Marlins organizations.

Over the course of 1,026 career minor league games, Ryan has comprised a .270 batting average with 218 extra-base hits, 337 RBI, and 415 runs scored.
