Beavers ready to open 2008 season at PGE Park

PORTLAND, Ore. - The Portland Beavers open the 2008 Pacific Coast League season on Thursday with an eight-game homestand at PGE Park. The Beavers' first homestand of the season against the Fresno Grizzlies and Sacramento River Cats features the debut of the team's new uniforms, logo and several exciting events, including Opening Night on April 3.

Opening Night, presented by PGE, kicks off the Beavers' home schedule, with a number of premium giveaways and activities planned for fans of all ages. The team's new slogan, "Portland's Team since 1903," sets the stage for 2008 giveaways, as the first 1,903 fans on Opening Night will receive 2008 schedule magnets as well as T-shirts from Comcast and FSN. On a Miller Lite Thursday, presented by Jammin' 95.5, Opening Night also marks the debut of the Beavers' new mascot, "Lucky." Beavers players will greet fans at the gates at 6 p.m., and clowns and face painters will be on hand to entertain fans before the first pitch at 7:05 p.m.

The celebration of the Beavers' opening weekend continues with exciting giveaways on Saturday and Sunday as the club wraps up a four-game set against Fresno. On Saturday, the first 1,903 fans receive 2008 Beavers promotional posters presented by AIG. With the Beavers new uniforms, Sunday's contest marks the first giveaway of the "Year of the Uniform" series exclusively for kids 12 and under to collect their own replica Beavers uniform. The first 1,903 kids receive new Beavers wristbands.

Portland wraps up a four-game series against Sacramento and its first homestand with Ugly Sweater Night, a Miller Lite Thursday presented by Jammin' 95.5.

Thursday, April 3 2008 Opening Night - Beavers vs. Fresno - 7:05 p.m. The Beavers open the 2008 campaign and a four-game series against the Grizzlies on Opening Night presented by PGE. The first 1,903 fans receive 2008 schedule magnets and Beavers T-shirts courtesy of Comcast and FSN. PGE's "Larry the Lightbulb," clowns and face painters will be on hand to help prepare fans for the home opener. Beavers players and the team's new mascot, "Lucky," will be on the concourse to greet fans as they enter the stadium on the first Miller Lite Thursday of the season, presented by Jammin' 95.5.

Friday, April 4 Opening Weekend - Beavers vs. Fresno - 7:05 p.m. The Beavers celebrate the start of the 2008 season with their second of four games against the Grizzlies on a Comcast Family Feast Friday, presented by Zenner's. The first 1,903 fans at PGE Park receive 2008 schedule magnets. Throughout the night, a variety of discounted concession items will be available including $1 hot dogs, Dasani water and desserts.

Saturday, April 5 Opening Weekend - Beavers vs. Fresno - 7:05 p.m. Opening weekend continues as the Beavers face the Grizzlies for the third game of a four-game series. On a Fred Meyer Super Giveaway Saturday, the first 1,903 fans receive a 2008 Beavers promotional poster presented by AIG. Poster vouchers will be issued at the gate, and posters can be picked up after the fifth inning from the US Bank Fan Stand.

Sunday, April 6 Kids Opening Day - Beavers vs. Fresno - 2:05 p.m. Portland wraps up opening weekend and its four-game set against Fresno on an American Family Insurance Kids Sunday. The first 1,903 kids 12 and under receive new Beavers wristbands - the first giveaway item in the "Year of the Uniform" giveaway series exclusively for kids. Prior to the first pitch, kids have the opportunity to get player autographs on the Fred Meyer Family Deck, and after the game, kids are invited to run the bases at PGE Park, presented by Family Fun Center & Bullwinkle's Restaurant.

Monday, April 7 Beavers vs. Sacramento - 7:05 p.m. The Beavers continue their first homestand of the season as they begin a four-game series against the River Cats at PGE Park. Gates open at 6 p.m.

Tuesday, April 8 Beavers vs. Sacramento - 7:05 p.m. Portland continues its four-game series with Game 2 against Sacramento. Gates open at 6 p.m.

Wednesday, April 9 Beavers vs. Sacramento - 7:05 p.m. New Portland mascot, "Lucky," and the Beavers host the River Cats for the third game of a four-game series. Gates open at 6 p.m.

Thursday, April 10 Miller Lite Thursday/Ugly Sweater Night - Beavers vs. Sacramento - 7:05 p.m. Put your lack of style on display with Ugly Sweater Night on a Miller Lite Thursday presented by Jammin' 95.5. With winter not too far behind, dig out those heavy, scratchy and multi-colored masterpieces as the Beavers conclude their homestand and series against Sacramento and enjoy discounted beverages.
