Beasley's last-minute goal lifts Rockford past Milwaukee

ROCKFORD, Ill. -- Rockford Rampage midfielder Jamar Beasley scored two goals, including the winner in the final minute, as the Rampage defeated the Milwaukee Wave, 9-8, on Friday night in Major Indoor Soccer League action at the MetroCentre.
With the win, the Rampage (2-0) take sole possession of first place in the MISL over the Wave (1-1). Next up for the Rampage is a 7:35 p.m. match on Friday, Dec. 4, against the Philadelphia KiXX (0-2) at the MetroCentre.
Beasley netted the game-winner with 52.6 seconds remaining as the Rampage went on the offensive with Fabinho as a sixth attacker. Beasley's shot deflected off of a Wave defender and past Wave goalkeeper Nick Vorberg.
Fabinho was responsible for a clutch three-point goal at the 9:40 mark of the fourth quarter to cut the Wave's lead to 8-7.
The match was a heavy defensive battle early on. At the 5:57 mark of the second quarter, the Rampage struck first. Rampage goalkeeper Danny Waltman made an outlet pass to Hassan Minter, who took a shot that ricocheted off of a Wave defender and into the net for a 2-0 lead. Prior to that goal, Vorberg had not given up a goal for more than five quarters.
At the 11:13 mark of the second quarter, the Wave's Troy Dusosky tied things up with a strike inside the arc and past Waltman for a 2-all score. Hewerton Moreira assisted from the right corner.
The Rampage opened the third quarter with the benefit of Wave penalty for too many men on the field. At the 1:08 mark of the third, Beasley cashed in with a go-ahead goal for a 4-2 lead. But Dusosky netted his second goal of the match with 1:41 remaining in the third to tie the match at 4-all.
The offense picked up for Milwaukee in the fourth when Travis MacKenzie scored at the 3:50 mark and Kyt Selaidopoulos a shorthanded goal at the 6:43 to take an 8-4 lead.
