Yakima Bears News Release
The Yakima Bears are excited to announce that Sports Center will host the Official Viewing Party for the team's first playoff game. Fans can watch the Bears first playoff game live from Boise at Sports Center in downtown Yakima Monday night.
Sports Center, located at 214 East Yakima Avenue in downtown, will be showing the game on projector screens Monday with no cover charge. First pitch from Boise is scheduled for 5:45, which is right in the middle of Sport Center's 4:00 to 7:00 happy hour.
Bears public address announcer Todd Lyons will host the event, with Bears prizes to be given away to fans in attendance. Playoff tickets will also be on sale at Sports Center Monday night during the event.
"Working with the Boise Hawks and Sports Center has allowed us an avenue to let our fans watch the Bears for this very important road game and it will hopefully get fans excited for the home playoff games," said Bears Media Relations Director John Hadden.
The game in Boise will be followed by a home playoff game Tuesday night, with up to three more home playoff games possible. Tickets can be purchased from the Bears downtown office at 17 North 3rd Street, by phone at (509) 457-5151, or online at yakimabears.com. Ticket packages are available that allow fans to reserve seats for all of the possible home playoff games.
Sports Center has recently gone under new ownership, which has led to several changes to "Yakima's true downtown sports bar." The menu has gotten an overhaul and Sports Center is now open Sunday's at 9:00 a.m. for breakfast. An official Grand Opening under the new ownership is being planned for September 15th, with drink specials and prizes, including Seattle Seahawks tickets, to be given away.
