Bears Fall to the Blue Crabs

The Newark Bears were defeated by the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs 11-4 on Wednesday afternoon at Bears & Eagles Riverfront Stadium in downtown Newark, NJ.

Newark took an early lead in the first inning after an RBI single off the bat of Carl Everett and a two run double off the bat of third baseman Michael Sandoval. The Bears recorded three runs off of four hits.

Southern Maryland answered with a stronger second, putting five runs on the board to take and control the lead. The Crabs gathered an additional five insurance runs in the ninth inning to finish the game.

The loss brings Newark's record to 33-30 and keeps them in second place in the Freedom Division.

The Bears take to the road on Thursday to face the Camden Riversharks for a four game series over the holiday weekend. They return to Bears & Eagles Riverfront Stadium on Monday, July 6th to face the Long Island Ducks. Tickets are still available for Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday's games by calling 1-888-85-BEARS.
