Three Day Series Could Be Best Ever

Newark, NJ – August 8, 2002 – On Tuesday evening, the Newark Bears set a franchise record for attendance as 6,750 fans were on hand as it was the Newark Police Department's National Night Out. With another strong turnout on Wednesday of 4,845 fans and a strong pre-sale for tonight's 6:35 pm finale with the Riversharks, the Bears have already guaranteed that this series will go down as at least their second best three-day turnout in franchise history.

"It has been a tremendous week for us in Newark," said Tony Zefiretto, General Manager. "We have had a diverse crowd of supporters for the Newark Police Department on Tuesday, children's camps on Wednesday and Wayne Township tonight. Now when we come back home for a 12 game stand next week, we hope to continue putting up these record numbers."

The Bears best three day series occurred through September 10th-12th of 1999 when 17,407 fans came out to see them close out their inaugural series with the Bridgeport Bluefish. An outstanding walk-up tonight could help the Bears threaten that number.

The Newark Bears will finish this three game series with the Camden Riversharks tonight at 6:35 pm. Tickets for this game as well as the rest of the second half are on sale now by calling 973.483.6900 or through any Ticketmaster outlet in the tri state area. Come Play In Our Yard!
