Bears drop opener at Wilkes-Barre 2-1
October 8, 2005 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Hershey Bears News Release
It was a close but disappointing debut for Bruce Boudreau behind the bench, as the BEARS fell 2-1 at Wachovia Arena Saturday night.
HERSHEY fired the first ten shots of the game at Penguins goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury, and had five first period power plays, but Wilkes-Barre/Scranton scored the only goal of the first twenty minutes. Ryan Stone scored a short-handed goal at 8:07 of the first for Wilkes-Barre's first shot of the period. The BEARS outshot the Pens 11-4 in the first, but trailed 1-0 after one.
After a scoreless second period, the Penguins scored in the third period at the 7:53 mark. Jonathan Filewich scored an even strength tally to give the Pens a 2-0 lead. Graham Mink scored his first goal as a BEARS forward at 16:27 of the third for the final goal of the night.
The BEARS finish the weekend with the club's home opener at GIANT Center Sunday afternoon at 5:00 p.m. Tickets are available for the game at the GIANT Center box office or by calling (717) 534-3911.
