
Bears Defeat Indians, Even Series at Yakima County Stadium

The Yakima Bears defeated the Spokane Indians 4-2 Thursday night at home to snap a four-game losing streak. The win came on the efforts of starting pitcher Teo Gutierrez and outfielder Henry Zabala.
The first two runs of the game were scored by the Indians, with a single run coming across the plate in both the first and second innings. After that, starting pitcher Teo Gutierrez shut the door. Gutierrez spread out six hits, three hit batsmen and two runs over seven and a third innings. He earned the win as the offense picked up after the first two innings.
The first run for the Bears was scored in the third when Garrett Weber was plated thanks to a groundout by Danny Pulfer. Jae Yun Kim tied the game in the fourth, as his first hit of the season was a run-scoring single that drove in Jimmy Comerota. Henry Zabala blasted a home run to open the sixth inning to give the Bears the lead for the first time on the night. Zabala helped extend the lead when he doubled behind Comerota's double in the eighth inning to score the insurance run.
Greg Robinson came on and pitched the final one and two thirds innings without giving up a run for his first save of the season in the 4-2 victory for the Bears.
Zabala finished the night 4-for-4 with a double, a home run, two RBI and a run scored. Comerota went 2-for-4 with a double and two runs scored as the Bears outhit the Indians 12-6.
The series between the Bears and Indians at Yakima County Stadium concludes Friday night. The first pitch is scheduled for 7:05. Lefty Adam Kudryk is slated to start for the Bears, while right-handed pitcher Santo Perez is scheduled to pitch for the Indians.
