Mobile BayBears News Release
MOBILE, Ala. - The Mobile BayBears, the Double-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Angels, held off the Mississippi Braves for a 6-4 win in the completion of Tuesday's suspended game at Hank Aaron Stadium. The BayBears dropped Wednesday's originally scheduled game 7-2.
TUESDAY'S GAME:
The BayBears tallied four runs on five hits in the third inning to knock Mississippi's starter Ian Anderson (0-1) out of the game early. After retiring the first six batters of the game, Anderson was unable to make it out of the third and exited with two outs in the frame.
Mitch Spires got Mobile on the board with an RBI single, and he scored on a fielding error. Brendon Sanger hit a two-run single to end Anderson's evening.
The Braves countered with three straight two-out doubles in the fourth to plate a pair of runs. Cristian Pache hit his first Double-A home run to lead off the fifth inning before the game was suspended due to rain.
When the game resumed, Jeremy Beasley (3-3) gave up just one run on one hit in three innings of relief to earn the win.
WEDNESDAY'S GAME:
The Braves (59-66 overall, 30-25 second half) opened the game with a five-run first inning and never looked back. Matt Ball (1-1) was tagged for six runs, five earned, on eight hits in his first home start with the BayBears (62-62, 25-31).
Ricardo Sanchez (2-4) was dominant for Mississippi, allowing two runs, one earned, with six strikeouts in 5 2/3 innings pitched. He retired the first 10 batters of the game.
Trailing 6-0 in the fourth, Jo Adell was the first BayBear to reach base with a one-out double. Adell scored his 11th run with Mobile, and the BayBears added another run the following inning. However, the BayBears left the bases loaded in the sixth inning, the final chance for a rally.
