
BayBears take down Smokies, 8-5

SEVIERVILLE, TN - The BayBears beat the Tennessee Smokies Monday 8-5, winning their first game of the series at Smokies Park. After being shut out back-to-back nights, the BayBears scored eight runs and had 12 hits in the win. Jonathan Castellanos (2-2) was the winning pitcher for Mobile, going five innings, allowing two runs on seven hits. Castellanos has now won two starts on the road trip after starting the season 0-2.
The BayBears offense started early, with four runs in the second inning. Emilio Bonifacio hit a two run single in the rally. Mark Reynolds added his third home run of the season in the seventh inning. Tennessee scored three times in the ninth inning, leaving two on base, with their final hitter Jemel Spearman lining a pitch to center field, with Mobile's Chris Rahl making a leaping catch to end the game.
Reynolds and Javier Brito had three hits each for Mobile, with Bonifacio and Phil Avlas adding two each. The BayBears and Smokies play Tuesday at 6:15, with Matt Green (2-0) pitching for Mobile against Tennessee's Donny Veal (0-3).
