MOBILE, Ala. - The Mobile BayBears, the Double-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Angels, split Monday's doubleheader against the Mississippi Braves at Hank Aaron Stadium.

GAME 1:

The BayBears took a 3-2 lead into the seventh inning but could not hang on for a win in the first game.

Bo Way hit an RBI double in the bottom of the fifth to cut the Mississippi lead in half. Way drew a bases-loaded walk in the sixth to tie the game, and then Brendon Sanger scored on a fielder's choice to put Mobile in front.

However, the Braves responded with four two-out runs in the top of the seventh against Matt Custred (0-1). Cleuluis Rondon tied the game 3-3 with an RBI double on a 1-2 pitch. After a Michael Reed walk, Alay Lago put the Braves ahead for good with an RBI double. A walk and a hit-by-pitch with the bases loaded added two more runs of insurance.

Josh Graham (2-1) earned the win for Mississippi in relief of Touki Toussaint, who allowed two runs on four hits with six strikeouts in five-plus innings.

Griffin Canning did not factor in the decision in his second Double-A start, as he gave up two runs on four hits with four strikeouts in 4 1/3 innings.

GAME 2:

Falling behind 2-0 early, the BayBears (8-9) came back to take the lead again and preserved it this time to earn a 5-2 win in game two.

Way drove in his third run of the twinbill with an RBI single in the second inning to cut Mississippi's (8-10) lead to 2-1. Taylor Ward and Connor Justus both hit two-run singles in the fifth to take the lead and add insurance.

Jeremy Rhoades (2-0) and Conor Lillis-White combined for four innings of scoreless, hitless relief.

The BayBears continue the five-game home series against Mississippi Tuesday at 6:35 p.m. CDT. Left-handed pitcher Jose Suarez (0-0, 2.45 ERA) is scheduled to make the start against righty Wes Parsons (0-0, 0.84 ERA) for the Braves.
