Mobile BayBears News Release

MOBILE, Ala. - The Mobile BayBears, the Double-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Angels, trailed by just one run after seven innings but fell 9-2 to the Chattanooga Lookouts Friday night at Hank Aaron Stadium.

Jahmai Jones, who hit a two-run homer Thursday, plated two more runs with a ground-rule double in the seventh. However, the BayBears (48-47 overall, 11-16 second half) left runners on second and third in the frame and could not tie or take the lead.

The Lookouts (46-51, 10-18) added to their 3-2 advantage with a six-run eighth inning. Brian Navaretto plated a pair of runs with a double, and Zander Wiel added a grand slam. Wiel homered in third inning as well along with Brent Rooker, who went deep for the second straight game.

Sean Poppen (3-5) allowed just one run on six hits in 5 1/3 innings of relief. Jeremy Beasley (1-2) recorded a quality start, giving up three runs on five hits in six innings pitched, but he took his second straight loss.

The BayBears continue the five-game home series against the Lookouts Saturday at 7:05 p.m. CDT. Right-handed pitcher Alex Klonowski (5-2, 4.68 ERA) is scheduled to make the start against southpaw Dietrich Enns (0-4, 6.00 ERA).
