PEARL, MS- For the second time in the brief 2006 season, the BayBears will play a deciding fifth game in a series. After losing three of five to the Carolina Mudcats in Mobile, the BayBears have split the first four games in Mississippi during the BayBears first road trip of the year. Mississippi beat the BayBears 6-2 on Friday night at Trustmark Park in Pearl, MS in front of 4,587 fans.
Brett Bonvechio hit a home run in the first inning to give the BayBears a 1-0 lead. Martin Prado?s RBI double tied the game at one in the first inning for Mississippi. With the game tied at two, Mississippi scored a run in the fifth, another in the sixth, and two in the seventh to seal the win. Jarrod Saltalamacchia was 3-for-4 with 3 RBI?s for the Braves.
The BayBears will finish the five game series with Bobby Basham (0-0) on the mound against Mississippi?s Daniel Curtis (0-1). The first pitch is scheduled for 7:05. All BayBears games can be heard on 1480 AM WABB, Comcast Cable Channel 18, and on the internet via mobilebaybears.com.
