Mobile BayBears News Release
JACKSON, Tenn. - The Mobile BayBears, the Double-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Angels, cut an early deficit to just one but dropped their third straight game to the Jackson Generals 8-3 Saturday night at the Ballpark at Jackson.
Brennon Lund recorded his team-high 26th multi-hit game of the season and drove in a pair of runs. His two-out single in the fifth got the BayBears (48-42 overall, 11-11 second half) on the board after falling behind 2-0 early. Lund also hit an RBI double as part of a two-run seventh to cut the Jackson lead to 6-3.
However, the Generals (49-43, 10-13) scored runs in four of their last five trips to the plate to pull away. Former BayBear Domingo Leyba homered for the second straight game, a two-run shot in the fifth, and Tyler Ladendorf added a two-run homer in the sixth. Daniel Robertson collected three hits for the third consecutive night, including a two-run single in the seventh.
Joel Payamps (8-3) earned the win with a quality start, giving up one run on five hits in six innings pitched. Bud Jeter notched his first save, tossing 2 1/3 scoreless, hitless frames to finish the game.
Jeremy Beasley (1-1) took the loss for the BayBears in his second Double-A start, allowing four runs on a career-high 10 hits.
The BayBears continue the five-game road series against Jackson Sunday at 6:05 p.m. CDT. Right-handed pitcher Alex Klonowski (5-2, 3.93 ERA) is scheduled to make the start against righty Bo Takahashi (1-3, 6.03 ERA) for the Generals.
