MOBILE, Ala. - Barry Enright rattled off six solid innings, but it ended up not being enough as the BayBears couldn't muster up enough offense in a 2-1 loss to the Mississippi Braves on Tuesday afternoon at Hank Aaron Stadium.

Enright (4-4) had only surrendered one base hit while striking out a season-high seven through 5 2/3 innings until he walked Matt Young with two outs in the sixth. Everything including a 1-0 lead evaporated quickly from there with Travis Jones reaching on an infield single where Pedro Ciriaco was late to cover second on what should have been an inning-ending force out.

A wild pitch moved the runners up to second and third with a low throw to second from James Skelton allowing Young to score. Two batters later, Greg Creek flipped a base hit to left-center which brought Jones home, giving the Braves (30-30) their 2-1 advantage.

Edgar Osuna (2-0) was sharp for Mississippi as he limited the BayBears (33-27) to a run on four hits over seven frames while getting away with four walks. The only blemish for Osuna came in the second when Yunesky Sanchez blasted a one-out homer, the first tater by Sanchez since June 11, 2007 when he was playing for South Bend.

The BayBears squandered some offensive opportunities late in the contest. Sean Coughlin doubled to lead off the sixth and advanced to third on a wild pitch, but he stayed there after a strikeout and a line-drive double play off the bat of Pete Clifford. Evan Frey was walked to begin the eighth and took second on a wild pickoff attempt by Bryan Dumesnil, but he was stranded after two punch outs and a foul pop.

Ramon Sanchez tossed two innings for the first time in a BayBear uniform and didn't allow a hit. Daniel Stange worked a scoreless ninth while Brett Butts (S, 2) shut it down for the Braves with a perfect bottom of the ninth.

The BayBears welcome the Tennessee Smokies, managed by Baseball Hall of Famer Ryne Sandberg, on Thursday night at 7:05. Matt Torra (3-6, 4.20) gets the start for the BayBears. For Hank Aaron Stadium tickets, call (251) 479-BEAR or log on to www.mobilebaybears.com.
