Jacksonville, Fla. - Chris Heisey hit a leadoff homerun in the twelfth inning leading the Carolina Mudcats (33-26) to a 3-2 series deciding win over the Jacksonville Suns (28-32) in front of 6,127 Tuesday night at the Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville.

Carolina reliever Logan Ondrusek (2-0) picked up the victory, allowing one hit over two innings of work. Jacksonville reliever Jay Buente (0-1) fell in the loss, allowing the game-deciding homerun.

Suns starter Aaron Thompson did not factor in the decision, allowing two runs, one earned, with seven hits over seven innings of work.

Jacksonville opened the scoring in the third inning as Tim Torres hit a sacrifice fly to right field to score Lorenzo Scott for a 1-0 lead.

Carolina tied the game in the fifth inning, as Yonder Alonso singled into centerfield to drive in Eric Eymann for a 1-1 score. Following a one-out error, Juan Francisco scored on a double play groundball to give Carolina the lead during the sixth inning.

The Suns rallied in the ninth inning, as a one-out error allowed Chris Hatcher to reach second base. After a Scott Cousins groundball moved Hatcher to third base, Lorenzo Scott doubled off the right-centerfield wall to drive him in for a 2-2 score to send the game to extra innings.

Chris Heisey led off the Carolina twelfth inning with his eleventh homerun of the season, opening a 3-2 lead for Carolina. The hit was only Heisey's third of the series against Jacksonville.
