BayBears drop game three to Barons

Mobile, Ala. – After winning the first two games of their series with the Birmingham Barons the BayBears fell on Sunday, 4-2, in front of 3,619 fans at Hank Aaron Stadium. Mobile starter, Duncan McAdoo took the loss in his second start of the season since moving from the bullpen. The BayBears out-hit the Barons 9-5, however they left eight runners on base in the loss.

Mobile went on top in the first as Jon Knott drove in Todd Donovan with a two-out single to left. The run marked the third straight time the BayBears scored in the opening frame. Birmingham tied the score in the second inning on a solo homerun by former BayBear, Gabe Alvarez.

Mobile retook the lead with a single run in the fifth on a sacrifice fly by Rico Washington. Birmingham followed in the top of the sixth, taking their first lead of the series. The Barons sent seven batters to the plate in the inning, scoring two runs, one earned, off of McAdoo. They would add an insurance run in the seventh against reliever Mike Bumstead on an RBI single by Chad Durham, to go on to the 4-2 win.

The series finale will be Monday night at 7:05. LHP Cory Stewart (4-2; 2.92) will get the start for Mobile against the Barons' Dennis Ulacia (1-6; 4.70).

Hall of Fame pitcher, Bob Feller will be in attendance at Hank Aaron Stadium for a fund raising event for the USS Alabama. There will be a benefit diner in the Stadium Club at 5:00 with a silent auction beginning at 4:30. Feller will also be throwing out the first pitch.
