Mobile BayBears News Release

Jackson, Tenn. – BayBears starter Duncan McAdoo saved his best outing for last as he led Mobile over West Tenn in the season finale for both teams, 3-1. McAdoo (6-8) threw eight innings, allowing just one run on four hits while striking out six batters. The right-hander didn't allow a base runner until the bottom of the fifth.

"If we would start the season over right now, the way Duncan's throwing the ball he wouldn't be here long," BayBears pitching coach Gary Lance said.

"He was throwing his change up to right-handed batters for just the second time this year. That was a huge part of his success tonight."

Kevin Reinking gave the BayBears an early 1-0 lead in the top of the third inning. Reinking smacked his first homerun of the season, a solo shot well over the wall in leftfield.

Joe Gerber added a solo shot of his own in the top of the sixth, extending the Mobile lead to 2-0. The homer was Gerber's third since joining the BayBears.

The Diamond Jaxx scored their lone run in the bottom of the seventh inning. Aron Weston led off with a single and stole second base. Jason Dubois followed a strikeout with an RBI double to right-centerfield. The next batter, Mike Dzurilla, then lined into an inning-ending double play that ended the threat with the BayBears leading 2-1.

Gerber and the BayBears got that run right back in the top of the eighth. Todd Donovan drew a leadoff walk and went to third on a hit-and-run single by Vinnie Faison. After J.J. Furmaniak walked to load the bases, Gerber lifted a sacrifice fly to right driving in Donovan.

J.J. Trujillo earned his third save of the season as he worked a perfect ninth inning. The save moved Trujillo into first place on the all-time BayBears career saves list with 29.
