SEVIERVILLE, Tenn. – Two Suns home runs were enough to power the team to a 2-1 victory over the Tennessee Smokies in the season finale in front of 3,101 fans Monday at Smokies Park.

Franklin Gutierrez led off the game with a home run – his fourth – to give the Suns a 1-0 lead against Smokies starter Chris Narveson. Brennan King added a solo shot off Narveson in the fourth inning. For King, it was the fourth consecutive game he hit a home run. Narveson (4-3) allowed two runs over seven innings but earned the loss.

Suns pitching no-hit the Smokies over the first six innings. In a spot start, Elvin Nina delivered three innings without a hit or run. Luis Pineda (1-1) duplicated the mark and earned the victory in relief. In the seventh, Orlando Rodriguez allowed a leadoff home run to Corey Erickson, the only Smokies hit of the afternoon. He was relieved in the ninth by Lino Urdaneta, who induced a game-ending double play to Caonabo Cosme to end a first-and-second threat. Urdaneta earned his sixth save of the season. The Suns (66-73 overall, 35-35 second half) walked eight batters Monday.

The Smokies (72-67, 37-32) travel to Carolina to face the Mudcats in the first game of the East Division Finals on Wednesday.

Gutierrez had three hits to lead all batters.
