
BayBears Blast Generals for Third Straight

MOBILE, AL -- The Mobile BayBears trump the Jackson Generals 6-2 Saturday night at Hank Aaron Stadium. With the win the BayBears improved to 14-9 and earned their third straight win for the first time this season. Mobile ended play Saturday a season best five games above .500.
BayBears LHP Andrew Chafin (2-0) earned his second straight win. Chafin held the Generals to just two runs on four hits over six full innings. RHP R.J. Hively pitched a hitless seventh inning and RHP Kaleb Fleck and LHP Patrick Schuster recorded the final six outs.
After Jackson took a 1-0 lead in the first, Michael Freeman would score on a David Peralta RBI groundout to tie the game at 1-1 in the BayBears first trip to the plate. In the second inning, Tom Belza gave the BayBears a 3-1 lead with a two-run single. Peralta added to his season home run total, hitting his forth of the year in the sixth inning. The solo shot went deep over the wall in right field then hit off the BayBears clubhouse and bounced into the parking lot. Freeman capped the BayBears scoring with his third homer of the year. After Jabari Blash dropped a pop fly from Freeman with two out in the inning, Freeman took advantage of the Blash's error, blasting a two-run homer to right, giving Mobile the 6-2 lead.
With Saturday's win Mobile has assured themselves a series victory, taking the first three of five against Jackson. The BayBears and Generals continue the series at Hank Aaron Stadium Sunday afternoon, April 27, at 2:05 PM.
