July 22, 2013 - New England Collegiate Baseball League (NECBL)
New Bedford Bay Sox News Release

Walks plagued the New Bedford Bay Sox Monday night at Roger's Park as they lost to the Danbury Westerners 8-0.

The Bay Sox pitching staff allowed eight earned runs on 10 walks and seven hits.

New Bedford couldn't muster much off of Danbury pitching. Westerners starting pitcher Jamie Pashuck (Maryland College Park) allowed no runs and two hits in five innings pitched.

Bay Sox starting pitcher Tucker Forbes (UCLA) struggled in his first start of the season. Forbes allowed seven runs on six walks, three hits, and a grand slam in two innings pitched.

Forbes walked the bases loaded in the bottom of the first. With two outs, Riley Palmer (SNHU) hit a grand slam over the right field fence to give the Westerners a 4-0 lead. Palmer now has five home runs on the season.

Forbes walked the bases loaded again in the bottom of the second. A two out single off the center field wall by Alexander Cruz (Georgia Tech) made it 6-0 Danbury. Cruz was thrown out trying for a double to end the inning.

The Westerners added a run in the third and the fifth to make it an 8-0 final.

The game was called in the sixth inning due to rain.

The Bay Sox are now 14-21 on the year. They head to Laconia for a doubleheader tomorrow.
