
Bay Sox Fall to Holyoke

Despite their 11 hits on the night, the New Bedford Bay Sox dropped their second game in a row to the Holyoke Blue Sox 4-1 Sunday night at Paul Walsh Field.
Holyoke's right fielder Vahn Bozoian (Southern California) hit a one-run homer that cleared the scoreboard in left field to assist in their 4-1 win.
Jacob Bruce (Kennesaw State) went 3 for 4 with 2 singles and 1 double. Brendan Hendricks (University of San Francisco) aided the offense with 2 RBIs as well.
Leading the Bay Sox offense was 3rd basemen Max Nogay (West Virginia) who went 3 for 4 with 2 single and 1 double. Lane Richards (Notre Dame) went 2 for 4 on the night with 2 singles.
Starting on the mound and getting the win for the Blue Sox was Michael Burke (Buffalo), he pitched 7 innings and struck out 8. Jace Herrera (Miami) and Ben Rakus (Save) (Stetson) pitched 1 inning each to close the game.
Nick Friar (Northwestern) started on the mound for the Bay Sox, pitching 5 innings and striking out 4. Danny Tyson (Northwestern) came in for the relief. Tyson gave up a mere 2 hits and struck out 5
Holyoke scored the 1st run of the game off a throwing error at 1st base by Friar. They added 2 more runs in the 3rd off a single by Hendricks.
New Bedford's 1st and only run of the game came in the bottom of the 3rd off an RBI single by Ryan Plourde (Fairfield).
The Blue Sox achieved a 3 run lead in the 5th off of Bozoian's 1 run homer. The game remained scoreless on both sides for the final 4 and 1/2 innings.
The Bay Sox record after Sunday is now 8-14. Their next home game is an exhibition matchup on Tuesday July 9th against Team Canada at 6:30 at Paul Walsh Field.
