Portland, Oregon - Before the fireworks light up the night sky, the Portland Chinooks will play for a return trip to the IBL Championship when they host Vancouver in the first round of the playoffs on Thursday afternoon beat Portland in the season opener at Clark College, 138-120 on April 27th.on at 2:30.

It will mark the fourth meeting between the rivals. Vancouver beat Portland in the season opener at Clark College, 138-120 on April 27th. The Volcanoes came into the Chinooks' house and won again 121-112 on May 11th before Portland snatched the third meeting at home,139- 128 on May 24th.

This playoff match-up features contenders for the past two IBL championships. Vancouver won the prize in 2011, while Portland advanced to the title game last season before falling to Bellingham. "That defeat was a hard pill to swallow, my heart went out to all my players I saw the agony and disappointment on their faces , we all wanted that championship so bad, but I knew that it sparked a commitment and determination that has been the tone for this entire season" say owner Terry Emmert.

Both rosters are a little different since the previous meetings over a month ago, so anything can happen when the ball is tossed into the air in the Fourth of July matinee.

Fans are invited to bring their families to Eastmoreland Courts (3015 SE Berkeley Place, just off McLoughlin and Johnson Creek) as the teams put on a show, fun for all during the "Battle of the Bridges IV".

The winner of this game will meet the winner of the Bellingham vs. Salem or Nippon Tornadoes of Japan on Friday night, July 5th at 7:00pm of the International Basketball League Championship at Eastmoreland Courts.
