Charleston Battery News Release

Charleston, SC - The Charleston Battery concludes its 2004 A-League campaign Sunday with a 6:00 PM match at Blackbaud Stadium versus the Toronto Lynx. The Battery enters the game on the back of Wednesday's 1-0 loss to Major League Soccer's Chicago Fire in the semifinal of the US Open Cup. The Battery is eliminated from playoff contention.

This is the second game of a two-match series with Toronto in the 2004 season The Battery defeated the Lynx by a score of two goals to none in a game played in Toronto on July 8. Gabe Valencia scored both Battery goals to power Charleston to victory.

The Lynx are led by first-year head-coach, Duncan Wilde who has led Toronto to a record of 10-15-1, 31 points this season. Wilde played professionally in England before moving to Canada to establish what became one of the largest Youth Soccer Academies in Ontario.
