
Battery visits Cleveland and Rochester

Charleston, SC. The Charleston Battery heads to Cleveland this Friday night for a USL1 match versus the Cleveland City Stars (7 PM); on Saturday night the Battery will be in Rochester, NY (7:35 PM) for the second game of the road-trip versus the Rochester Rhinos. Both games are available locally on Sports Radio 1450 AM and online at www.USLlive.com.
Charleston (8-3-6, 30 points) enters the weekend in a tie for second place in the USL1 standings. The Battery's last match was a 1-0 loss versus the Carolina RailHawks in a game played last Saturday night at Blackbaud Stadium.
Forward Randi Patterson received a red-card during the first half of the match versus the RailHawks and will miss the game against Cleveland as he serves a one match suspension.
This is the second game of the year versus the City Stars, the Battery defeated Cleveland 2-0 in a game played at Blackbaud Stadium on May 30; midfielders Chris Williams and Kenji Treschuk scored the goals.
Cleveland (2-10-5, 11 points) is in 10th position in the USL1 tables; the City Stars tied 0-0 with the Puerto Rico Islanders in their most recent match played at home last Sunday evening.
Cleveland won the USL Second Division in 2008 and were promoted to USL1 for the 2009 season. The City Stars are led by first-year head coach Rod Underwood. Underwood previously served as an assistant coach with the Portland Timbers.
On Saturday the Battery travel to Rochester for a 7:35 PM match versus the Rochester Rhinos. This is the second game of the season between the Club's Charleston defeated Rochester 2-0 at Blackbaud Stadium on May 23.
In 2008 the Battery swept a three-game series in the regular season with the Rhinos winning twice at Blackbaud Stadium and once at PaeTek Park in Rochester. The teams met in the first-round of the playoffs and Rochester won the home and home series with a 2-1 aggregate score victory; both sides won their home games. Rochester lost in the semi-finals to the Puerto Rico Islanders.
The Rhinos are led by second-year head coach Darren Tilley; Tilley is a former Rochester player and in his first year in charge guided the Rhinos to an 11-10-9 record in the league. Rochester are the last remaining USL side in the Open Cup and take on DC United next week in the Semifinal.
