
Battery Set for Hammerheads

Charleston, SC. The Charleston Battery (4-1-0) takes on the Wilmington Hammerheads (1-3-0) Saturday night at Blackbaud Stadium; kick off is set for 7:30 PM ($10 - $18, www.charlestonbattery.com / (843) 971-4625). Saturday's game is presented by McLaughlin Smoak and Clarke Benefits. The Battery enters the game on the back of a four match winning streak including two victories on the road last week in Harrisburg and Dayton.
Midfielder Nicki Paterson scored both game-winning goals in Harrisburg and Dayton converting a penalty-kick in each game to lift the Battery into a tie for third place in the USL PRO standings.
Saturday's game against Wilmington is a re-match of the 2012 USL PRO Championship game that saw the Battery claim its fourth USL Championship. The Battery defeated Wilmington 1-0 in that match with the lone goal scored by midfielder Mike Azira.
The Wilmington Hammerheads have lost three consecutive games after starting the season with a 2-0 win versus Antigua Barracuda FC. Wilmington's last match was a 2-0 home loss to the Richmond Kickers in a game played last Friday night.

The Charleston Battery is teaming up with Dragon Boat Charleston and the Lowcountry Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Curẻ̩ at this Saturday's game for the third annual Kick for a Cure night presented by McLaughlin Smoak and Clarke Benefits.

Blackbaud Stadium will feature a variety of fun Pink additions and decorations during this special match including donating 20% of Pink Specials (Pink lemonade, Pink Cosmos, and Strawberry Daiquiris) sold in the concession stands and Three Lions Club.

Charleston Battery to enter Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup in second round
The Charleston Battery will take on the winner of the Portland Timbers U-23s (PDL) vs Sacramento Gold (NPSL) first round fixture in the second round of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup. Portland faces Sacramento at Jeld-Wen Field in Portland, OR on Tuesday, May 14. If Sacramento advances the Battery will host the second round match at Blackbaud Stadium on Tuesday, May 21 (7:30 PM) if Portland advances the Battery will travel to Portland, OR for the game.
