Charleston Battery News Release


The Battery tied the Minnesota Thunder 0-0 last Friday night at Blackbaud Stadium in its first game of the 2007 USL First Division season. The game was broadcast live on FOX Soccer Channel.

The Montreal Impact came from two goals behind Saturday night to earn a 2-2 tie with the Atlanta Silverbacks in a game played in Atlanta.

Forward / midfielder Stephen Armstrong returns to the Battery squad this week after completing his indoor season with the Chicago Storm and should be available for selection on Saturday night.

In 2006 the Battery defeated Montreal twice, 3-1 at Blackbaud Stadium and 1-0 in the return match played in Montreal.

APPEARANCES THIS WEEK

Monday Night Charleston Battery Director of Soccer Operations Andrew Bell will be the guest analyst for the Charleston Riverdogs Radio Broadcast.

Tuesday evening the Charleston Battery players and coaches will join members of the Bombshells at Manny's West Ashley for the Weekly Charleston Battery Radio Show.

Friday at 1PM two Battery players will visit Burns Elementary School with the Arby's Fun Bus.

SATURDAY PROMOTIONS

Saturday is a Family Fun Fest presented by Arby's with a special appearance by the Arby's Fun Bus and a massive tailgate in the Parking lot before the game. The tailgate is being held in conjunction with Mt Pleasant Soccer Club (as of Friday afternoon over 500 fans had signed up to attend the tailgate). Enjoy $2 drafts until kick off in the Bud Light Beer garden and your favorite mixed drinks in the Red Bull Bar. The Battery dance team, the Bombshells will be performing at half time plus win cash and prizes throughout the night.
