
Battery heads to Montreal for game versus Impact

Charleston, SC. The Charleston Battery heads to Montreal Friday for a 7:30 PM match versus the Montreal Impact (REAL 1340 AM / www.charlestonbattery.com). The Battery (6-2-2) enters the game in second position in the USL First Division; Montreal (2-6-2) is in 10th place. Charleston defeated the Impact 3-1 in both team's last league game, played last Saturday night at Blackbaud Stadium.
This is the third meeting of the season between the Clubs, Charleston defeated Montreal 1-0 on May 14 and 3-1 on June 7; both games were played at Blackbaud Stadium. The Battery came from behind to win last Saturday after Montreal winger Rocco Placentino had given the Impact an early lead. Ian Fuller, Aaron King and David Kenga supplied the goals as the Battery fought back for the win.
Montreal installed a new head coach this week as Nick DeSantis was elevated to a Technical Director Role. John Limniatis takes over the coaching position and his first game in charge will be versus the Battery on Friday night. Limniatis was a member of the Charleston Battery team in 1999; he played 30 games recording two assists.
Friday's game will be played at Montreal's new soccer-specific stadium, Stade Suputo. The 13,000 seat facility has been sold out for each of the previous three matches that have been played there. Montreal is winless at their new home and has yet to score a goal at the new stadium.
Charleston Battery forward Aaron King was named the USL First Division Player of the Week following his outstanding performance during last Saturday night's game versus the Montreal Impact. King was substituted into the game in 60th minute; he scored the game winner and also assisted on the third goal as the Battery won 3-1. King recorded another assist in Charleston's 3-0 win versus the ASC New Stars Tuesday night in the U.S. Open Cup.

The Charleston Battery returns to Blackbaud Stadium on Friday, June 20 to take on the Minnesota Thunder; gates open at 6 PM - kick off is set for 8 PM.
