Battery finalizes pre-season schedule

Charleston, SC. The Charleston Battery has finalized a nine match pre-season schedule starting Tuesday, March 14 with a game versus the College of Charleston. The Battery plays three Major League Soccer exhibitions during pre-season, March 18 vs Houston 1836, March 22 vs the MetroStars and March 25 vs DC United. Training camp opens on Saturday, March 11 at the new Charleston Battery practice facility on Daniel Island.

All home pre-season games played at Blackbaud Stadium, Daniel Island; all games are free of charge except MLS exhibitions, March 18, 22 & 25).

The Charleston Battery opens training camp on Saturday, March 11 with its fitness and conditioning testing. The Battery has recently completed construction of its new training facility on Daniel Island Drive. The official opening will coincide with first day of training camp, March 11.

The Charleston Battery opens its 2006 USL First Division campaign at home on Saturday, April 29 versus the Virginia Beach Mariners at Blackbaud Stadium; kick off is set for 7:30 PM.

2006 Carolina Challenge Cup

The Charleston Battery will host the third annual Carolina Challenge Cup March 18 - 25 at Blackbaud Stadium, Daniel Island. The 2006 pre-season tournament will feature 2004 MLS Cup Champions DC United, Major League Soccer's MetroStars, Houston 1836 and the USL First Division Charleston Battery.

DC United's 16-year old soccer sensation Freddy Adu is expected to make a return visit to the tournament. Tickets are on sale now priced at $15 - $25; discounts are available for series tickets (includes all 6 games) and for 2006 Charleston Battery season ticket holders.
