Charleston Battery News Release
CHARLESTON, S.C. - The Charleston Battery announced Wednesday the club has expanded their partnership with the Charleston chapter of Soccer Shots, a youth soccer development organization. The partnership will see a host of collaborations between the two organizations at Patriots Point.
The club and Soccer Shots Charleston will co-host two summer soccer camps July 17- July 21 and July 31 - August 4 at Patriots Point during the summer for kids aged 4 - 12 years old, led by highly-trained Soccer Shots coaches, with registration now open at charleston.soccershots.com/battery.
Additionally, there will be a chance to win free entry to the camp during regular season Battery matches by entering to win the giveaway at the Kids Pitch in the stadium.
The camps are designed for young players to improve their soccer skills, have fun, build character and be inspired to dream big in soccer. With a weekly theme, daily skills and daily character-building words, every camper is guaranteed to be engaged at their age-appropriate level.
"As a club, we are always looking for opportunities to connect with the community and the youth athletes to the Battery brand," said Lee Cohen, club president. "We have heard the requests for summer camps to come back and we are truly excited to be partnering with Joey and the Soccer Shots brand.
"Joey is a great example of someone in the Charleston community that is growing the game from the ground up and inspiring young kids to become fans of the Battery and the sport of soccer."
"As a former member of the Charleston Battery staff, I am delighted to partner with the Battery, an organization I deeply love," said Joey Gorman, owner of Soccer Shots Charleston. "The mission of Soccer Shots Charleston aligns with that of the Charleston Battery: 'Your town, your club.' Ultimately, we are both here to serve and impact our local community through the vehicle of soccer.
"Getting to know Lee and the leadership within the club has me extremely excited to see the positive impact we can make together. The club is in great hands and we can't wait to see everyone at future home games and summer camp."
Soccer Shots will also hold a six-week Saturday morning clinic at the Kids Pitch inside the stadium. For more information, visit: charleston.soccershots.com/battery.
