2022-23 BATTALION REGULAR-SEASON SUMMARY

FIRST GOAL: The Battalion is 22-0-1 when scoring the first goal of a game and 10-12-1 when the opposing team scores first.

AFTER TWO PERIODS: The Battalion is 24-1-1 when leading after two periods, 1-11-0 when trailing after the second, and 7-0-1 when tied at the end of the second.

ONE-GOAL DECISIONS: The Battalion is 8-5-2 in games decided by one goal.

TROOPS 2ND IN OFFENCE: The Battalion ranks 2nd in OHL scoring with an average of 4.28 goals per game (197 in 46 games), trailing the Windsor Spitfires at 4.67 (210 in 45 games).

BATTALION 2ND IN DEFENCE: The Battalion has the 2nd-best defensive record in the OHL, allowing an average of 2.89 goals per game (133 against in 46 games). The Ottawa 67's lead with an average of 2.49 (112 against in 45 games).

POWER PLAY: The Battalion is tied with Hamilton for 11th in power-play efficiency with a scoring percentage of 21.8. The Troops have scored 37 goals on 170 opportunities.

PENALTY KILLING: The Battalion is 1st in penalty-killing with an effectiveness of 85.9 percent. The Troops have allowed 26 power-play goals during 184 times shorthanded.

PENALTY MINUTES: The Battalion is the 10th-most penalized team in the OHL, averaging 11.5 minutes per game.

EVEN STRENGTH: The Battalion has scored 160 goals at even strength or when shorthanded, and surrendered 107 goals at even strength or with the man advantage.

SHORTHANDED GOALS: The Battalion has scored a league-leading 12 shorthanded goals, including three each by Nikita Tarasevich and Josh Bloom ... The Battalion is 10 points ahead of its pace of 2021-22 when the Troops finished first in the Central Division and third overall in the OHL with a record of 43-18-7 for 93 points in 68 games. The Battalion won 4-3 against the visiting Sudbury Wolves in its 47th game last season.

TROOPS AMONG OHL LEADERS:

MATVEY PETROV: Left winger Petrov has 20 goals and 45 assists for 65 points in 45 games and is 3rd in the OHL scoring race. He's 2nd in assists (45), tied 4th in power-play assists (19), and tied 10th in plus-minus (+22).

KYLE JACKSON: Overage centre Jackson has 27 goals and 37 assists for 64 points in 46 games and is 4th in the OHL scoring race. He is tied for 5th in game-winning goals (5), tied 8th in assists (37), tied 9th in power-play goals (8) and tied 10th in goals (27).

TY NELSON: Defenceman Nelson has 16 goals and 40 assists for 56 points in 45 games and is 2nd in goals (16), assists (40) and points (56) by OHL rearguards and is 13th in the OHL scoring race. He leads all players with 227 shots on goal, is 6th in assists (40), tied 8th in power-play goals (8) and tied 10th in power-play assists (13).

JOSH BLOOM: Left winger Bloom has 23 goals and 30 assists for 53 points in 48 games with the Battalion and Saginaw Spirit, tying him for 20th in the OHL scoring race. He leads the league with four shorthanded goals.

DALYN WAKELY: Centre Wakely has 20 goals and 13 assists for 33 points in 46 games. He is tied for 12th in the OHL with four game-winning goals.

KYLE McDONALD: Overage right winger McDonald has 21 goals and nine assists for 30 points in 23 games and is tied for 5th in game-winning goals (5).

PAUL CHRISTOPOULOS: Defenceman Christopoulos has two goals and 16 assists for 18 points in 46 games and leads the OHL in plus-minus (+37).

NIKITA TARASEVICH: Right winger Tarasevich has 12 goals and 19 assists for 31 points, all career highs, in 45 games. He is tied for 2nd in the OHL with three shorthanded goals.

DOM DiVINCENTIIS: Goaltender DiVincentiis is 25-6-1 with a 2.51 goals-against average and .911 save percentage. He leads all netminders in wins (25), and is 2nd in average (2.51) and save percentage (.911).
