Lancaster JetHawks News Release

LANCASTER, CA - After losing the first five games of the second half, the JetHawks offense decided to take matters into its own hands and put on an offensive show, scoring 15 runs on 19 hits en route a 15-9 win over the Modesto Nuts on Tuesday night at The Hangar.

The JetHawks jumped out to a 4-0 lead through the first four innings. Domingo Santana drove in George Springer with a single in the first and Enrique Hernandez, who tripled to start the third, scored on a Ben Orloff single. Jonathan Meyer and Hernandez each picked up RBIs in the fourth.

After tossing three scoreless innings to start the game, starter Tyson Perez (5-2) let the Nuts back in the game in the fifth. After a Juan Crousset RBI-groundout, Kyle Parker doubled in two runs with two out to make it a one run game.

Lancaster answered back with a big fifth inning. The team batted around and scored five runs in the frame. Santana hit a three-run home run, his 10th of the season, with nobody out and Chris Epps and Meyer each drove in runs to put the JetHawks up 9-3.

After allowing a run in the sixth inning, Perez was relieved by Patrick Urckfitz. Kyle Parker hit a home off Urckfitz in the seventh inning and Mark Tracy doubled home Dallas Tarleton to make the score 9-6.

Chris Epps responded with a solo home run to lead off the seventh inning against reliever Craig Bennigson. Meyer followed with a single and Ben Heath drove him home with a double. Hernandez singled to score Heath and Springer picked up an RBI later in the inning with a sacrifice fly.

Clark picked up the Nuts final runs of the game with a three-run home run in the eighth inning off of Kirk Clark to bring Modesto with in striking distance.

Chad Rose came into the game for Modesto and was unable to keep it a four-run game. He allowed two runs in the eighth without giving up a hit thanks to three walks and two wild pitches.

Andrew Robinson shut the door in the ninth inning with a perfect frame. Nuts starter Leuris Gomez (2-3) picked up the loss allowing 9 runs - eight earned - on 13 hits.

Lancaster has scored 10 or more runs in seven of eight home wins in the month of June.
