Kansas City Comets News Release

(Independence, MO) The Comets are excited to announce the signing of forward Bato Radoncic for the remainder of the 2011-2012 season, pending league approval. Radoncic, a native of Montenegro, has been playing professional soccer since 1996 when he signed with Berane, a 2nd division team from his home country. He came to the United States in 2001 to play with the Milwaukee Rampage of the USL's A-League. In 2006 as a member of the AISA Rockford Rampage, Radoncic was named the league MVP and relayed that success into a championship run for the Rampage in 2007. Most recently he was a member of the Chicago Riot. He was 4th in the league in points and total goals (49, 20) and a 1st Team All-MISL forward despite missing two games in the season.

Bato joins the Comets at a crucial time in the season and figures to be a big factor in the team's playoff push. Coach Roentved talked about the upcoming playoff battles, "We have a tough road ahead in a tight division. Hopefully, Bato will be that spark we need to put us where we want to be at the end of the season." Radoncic will be in uniform this Saturday January 21st as the Comets take on the Norfolk SharX at the Scope Arena at 6:00PM CST. Fans are encouraged to cheer on Bato and the rest of the Comets from the BrewTop Pub & Patio in Lee's Summit, the Official Home of the Comets Watch Party.

The Comets are back at home next Wednesday, January 25th to battle the Syracuse Silver Knights. That night is Gino Schiraldi Bobblehead night, the first 1,500 fans inside the arena will get a bobblehead of one of the greatest players to ever wear a Comets uniform.
